Those who walked on a carpet will know how comfortable it would be for them to use the carpet. It gives more comfort and a very soft feel. Although we know the softness and the nature of the carpets we won t even try to know how they are being manufactured in the industry. There are basically four types of constructions involved in the manufacturing of a carpet. Let s discuss the methods of manufacturing a carpet later in the article, first let s see about the history of the carpets.

For the last two decades, the people have an opinion that these carpets are only the means of investment. So they didn t try to own a set of carpets for enriching their homes. After the introduction of the tufted carpet manufacturing, two carpet manufacturing industries, Axminster and the Wilton, were able to make a huge turn over in their sales of carpet. These tufted carpets have very high quality and are available in both graphic and in plain styles, as desired by the buyer and also fits in to the estimated budgets of them.

Before the tufted carpets, Wilton and Axminster industries were constructing the woven carpets. We can t exactly say that they are on their way of extinction, because of the introduction of tufted carpets. But woven carpet speaks about the design flexibility and the longevity range. These carpets find their applications in leisure s and most hotels where they are taken in contract form, and also found in most of their homes for design purpose.

In the present day scenario, most of the well known construction companies like the Wilton and the Axminster produces the machine oven carpets from a massive loom which jointly weave the carpet yarn bobbins and have a backing. These machine oven carpets provide an extreme underfoot luxury along with high performance.

Tufted carpets are revolutionizing the carpet industry for the recent past. Manufacturing technology involved in the tufted carpets is damn new to the history of manufacturing of the carpets. A very high speed production is involved in this, when compared to the traditional construction of carpets. There are a number of forms of tufted carpets, in which most popular ones are twist pile, velvet or loop pile one.

Twist pile are produced by twisting more than one fiber in the process of tufting, which appear in the bounded state after finishing. Velvet carpet, as the name denotes the nature of these carpets is so smooth and appears velvety in nature. The loop pile carpets are hard in their nature but have a great texture of finish.

Another construction process is the fiber bonding process in which carpets are made by sticking many fibers to the backing material. They can be individually pulled or pushed into a web form. They are apt for contract carpeting in the carpet tile form.

The very fine and high quality finish carpet are made by the hand knotted method of manufacturing. They use rugs got from far continents, hand knotted squares of wall to wall carpets. The drawback of this handmade carpet is that one cannot assure guarantee for the life of the carpet.
