The good news this year has been that local weather conditions have been so good that bike trails are becoming available all over the area. If this kind of weather continues, even single track trays should dry out quickly and become available for use. As any experienced mountain biker should know, hitting them mountain biking trail early in the season helps you to become fitter and stronger. In Steamboat Springs, you can choose between beautiful meadows with slow biking trails and more rugged and challenging single-track traits. Whether you fancy long downhill trails or steep climbing ones, this is the place for a dedicated mountain biking enthusiast.

You could, for instance, the Buffalo Pass to Mountain View Trail located 13 miles from Steamboat Springs. This trail specializes in fast and smooth downhill sections alternating with a few easy climbs. Alternatively the Zig Zag Mountain Bike Trail is a lot of fun because the downhill descent is almost effortless. The Steamboat Bike Park which is eagerly awaited is due for a formal opening later but three of the gravity trails have already been opened to the public. Two of these traits are intended for beginners or novices while the third is more advanced.

If you are a hiking enthusiast, you would find Steamboat Springs to be a hiking paradise with a choice of trails that will suit anything you are looking for whether it is an easy hike or lots of adventure. The entire area offers its spectacularly beautiful natural vistas whether you are looking for meadows and mountain streams or mountain peaks. Over 40 miles of hiking and biking trails have been developed and you have guaranteed entertainment to suit your personal preferences.

You could try the local favorite which is the Fish Creek Falls Trail which is a short hike that begins at Fish Creek Falls Road and finishes at Fish Creek Falls. If you are feeling energetic, you can continue to the second falls and carry on up Long Lake. Another relatively easy hike is the Spring Creek Long Trail which is an 8 mile trail that follows the course of the Spring Creek up the canyon. There are plenty of creek crossings to keep you amused [and possibly wet!] and a gain an elevation of about 1200 feet. The Devil's Causeway will never fail to enthrall you no matter how often you hike on it. The Devil's Causeway is a natural bridge that is only a few feet wide with 100 foot drop on either side.
