Without trust, no relationship can survive - trust and relationships are intertwined. In order to spend the rest of your life with someone, you need to trust them and they need to trust you. These strategies will help you restore that trust, even if you have screwed up in the past to break that trust.
Don't fool yourself. The most common trust problems arise from a failure to be honest with one another. Talk about what happened during your day at school or work. If you go to an event or party, talk about the music, decorations, food, and other details. Talking sincerely about what you have done puts your lover's mind at ease.
Spend more time with your partner. Neglecting your partner can be seen as a sign of cheating or insecurity. There will be less room for his or her mind to wander. If you're invited somewhere, bring your partner along.
Be consistent. Being predictable makes you easier for your lover to understand. People begin to mistrust others when they can no longer predict what others are doing. If you're consistently home at about the same time and then suddenly aren't, make sure your lover knows why. Your lover will wonder what's happening if you don't.
Do not take things for granted. Just because someone loves you does not mean they trust you. Having his or her love doesn't necessarily mean you don't have to answer for anything.
Don't ignore the elephant in the room. If you feel that your partner distrusts you, sit down and talk about it. Find out what you need to do to get that trust back. On the flip side, tell your partner what he/she must do to earn your trust. relationships and trust go both ways, after all.
If you have made a mistake, own up to it. The longer you lie about it, the more damage you are doing to your relationship. Even if you are afraid that the mistake might be enough to destroy your relationship, you need to come out in the open with it. Over time, your partner will forgive you if you work hard to get the trust back.
Your words and deeds should be the same. If you say one thing and mean another, your body language will give it away. When talking to your partner, use eye contact to show you are connection. Also, do not be nonchalant or vague with your replies. Give full attention to your partner when you speak.
Trust must be earned. If you do not feel as if you've done anything to warrant your lover's mistrust, ask him or her why. Ask how you can get it back and make sure you also trust yourself. Both members of a relationships should have mutual trust with one another.
