Baby Boomers and therefore the Demographics of Litter
The baby boomers are the kids of the silent generation (born previous to 1945) and the fogeys of generation X (born 1965-1981). The baby boomer generation has exerted significant influence on the trends seen in fashionable societies merely as a result of of the pressure of the population mass!
Born between 1946 and 1964 the baby boomers got this name merely because there was a population explosion following the second world war. Their oldsters (the silent generation born before 1945) were happy that the second world war was currently over and there was a renewed sense of optimism that centered on families and creating homes to lift children. The ensuing baby boom bulged the demographic profiles of the many countries and also the cohort of individuals born between 1946 and 1964 began aging together.
Thus what has this got to do with muddle??
The generation cohorts are influenced by the significant social, political, and economic trends of their youth and throughout now the attitudes, values, and beliefs that influence their method of thinking are formed. In relation to "litter " the two influences that would exert the most pressure would be the home and therefore the pop culture. Thus it becomes necessary to perceive how every generation has brought these influences connected on the muddle habits now being seen in modern homes.
It all started with the silent generation. They are the fogeys of the baby boomers and the grandparents to generation X (born 1965- 1981). The silent generation is typically called the veteran's demographic as a result of the folks during this generation were greatly influenced by the first and second world wars with the nice depression.
With a sturdy view of authority influenced by the military model that steered "duty before self",
They grew up with very very little selection or choices in consumable product and were limited to what was offered inside a brief distance of their home. Together with the purchase of products was the expectation that the purchased item would last so long as it was needed. The silent generation grew up with the belief that if you toss stuff away you're a dangerous person as a result of you are wasteful. So throwing things away is never an option.
The mantra of the silent generation would be "Use it up, create it last, and wear it out"
Over a lifetime the persistent pattern of thinking in the fogeys of the baby boomers led to the buildup of additional and a lot of material goods in their home. Unfortunately their skill at managing those merchandise did not keep pace with their ability at acquiring them.
So we tend to will see that the homes where the baby boomers grew up were characterized by the accumulation of goods. This was a measure of success and mirrored the growing economic prosperity of their oldsters further as the changes in the selection of goods and services currently available to them and marketed through the media.
The baby boomers were in all probability the first generation with a realistic expectation to "do higher" than their oldsters! Sadly they never learned from their folks a way to purge their possessions or maybe a way to be happy while not them.
The clutter in the homes of baby boomers and their families is that the direct results of the emotional attachment to their stuff and the shortage of skill in managing it. The clutter epidemic suggests that there's a legacy from the mid 1900's that is still exerting its influence in the homes of the baby boomers and their youngsters, the Generation X!!
Stopping this epidemic means that that the cause must be identified and understood before it can be mitigated. Severing the emotional attachments to material possessions and learning a way to purge your possessions while not guilt is the place to start out!
