President Rutherford B. Hayes officially displayed the White House grounds to native children for egg rolling on the Monday after Easter Sunday in 1878. It has become a practice, and every year the White House hosts an Easter Egg Roll for kids and their families. It is not continually a smoothly run event, and bad experiences may result.
