Empowerment is one of the much heard but least understood words. Some do not have an idea what it is while for others, it can be a management trick of making employees feel that they are something when in reality they are nothing. But the true meaning of the word is the sharing of power from those who have power. This means that your employees are working with you, not for you. It is a great way of letting each individual come out with his own ideas and decisions, which in the past was made only by managers. It encourages employees to become more driven in their task and be highly committed to the company that they work with.

Empowerment allows people to experience the benefits of synergy, ideas and ownership. When it comes to generating ideas, an empowered company allows two heads to work as one rather than a single brain which dictates everything. When everyone in your organization feels that they are empowered, they are more willing to share ideas which often results to greater achievements. It allows for team work to exist which can overcome personal differences. This creates synergy or the working together of several components for one purpose or goal. If one person has an idea or suggestion, everyone else around jumps in to offer help or further suggestions which will improve the original idea. This cooperation not only erases personal conflicts and professional jealousies but also allows a company to have greater profits. It then translates to more salaries and benefits for the employees. As the working condition improves, so too does the ways in which the employees treat the company. It is a cycle brought on by empowerment
which is beneficial to everyone involved.

Empowerment also gives each employee the feeling that he is a part of something. Every time the company is involved in a plan or project, he has part ownership since his ideas and suggestions were used in its formulation. This feeling of ownership gives more enthusiasm to an employee to be more involved with each project. He will also have more commitment to the success of the company. Since he owns the project, he is determined to see it through to a successful conclusion. More work is then done each day which contributes to the better standing of the company, which again will give something back to the employees who put it up there.
