First produced by the Ford Motor Company in 1993, the Ford Mondeo is a car that you can count on to be sleek, stylish and muscular-it fits every personality, every budget and embodies the meaning of its name: world. Although Mondeo is a large-size sedan that is often driven by the traditional family man, it looks like anything but a family vehicle. Mondeo was marketed as a car for everyone in the world alongside the Contour and the Mercury Mystique, two other similar vehicles in the Ford lineup.

Depending on where you live, Ford Mondeo may be available for both contract hire and leasing options. As an individual, it's important that you engage in leasing opportunities before purchasing a vehicle-the Mondeo often has 1-3 year leasing options, giving you the opportunity to try it, and several other vehicles, before you buy. As a business owner, giving Ford Mondeo a try through a contract hire will help you not only try out vehicles before you buy them for your company but also keep your company look sleek and in line-all of your employees could be driving a Ford Mondeo, in several colors-and you'll have the option to upgrade every 1-3 years, keeping your fleet looking like new one-hundred percent of the time.

Although Ford Mondeo was put into the same class as Contour and Mercury Mystique as a "world car", it does not necessarily share the features that have classified its sisters as world cars in the past. For instance, Ford Mondeo does not feature front mirrors and door handles like those on the Contour, or the windscreen. In fact, the Mondeo is less like a world car, than newer models like the Ford Focus and the Mk. 6 Ford Fiesta, which both fit the bill much better in terms of being a "world car".

Originally, Ford Mondeo came in three different major models-a four door, a five door with hatchback and a five door estate. When the car was launched in 1993, its purpose was to replace Ford Sierra, especially in the European markets. In addition, it was meant to replace the Telstar in Asia.

Ford Mondeo is a front wheel (unless otherwise specified) drive vehicle and is typically available in either manual or automatic transmission. In its heyday, the car was a completely new design, unlike any other car Ford had ever built, including the Sierra-as a replacement, it was meant to be nothing like the car being replaced. Mondeo was the first car in history to be sold with standard side airbags, along with many other safety features including seat belt pretensioners, side-impact bars, a driver's airbag, traction control and self-leveling suspension.

In addition, Ford Mondeo comes in either V6 or 4WD versions, which each provide standard traction control as a part of the basic structure of the vehicle.

For comparisons purposes, Ford Mondeo was built to compete with the Honda Accord and the Nissan Primera of 1986. The car was further developed and built to better suit the needs of fleets and families as time went on. Today, the car features velour trim, storage arm rest and power mirrors and windows as standard features and buyers have the option to upgrade to leather seats, electric sunroofs, alloy wheels, a cd changer and other premium features.

Ford Mondeo is anything but a "world car" but in terms of running smoothly, working for families and on the go business people, and looking sleek, the car is at the top of its class. It has sleek, professional features and drives smoothly on the freeway and on neighborhood streets.
