Man has cooked outdoors and over a fire since prehistoric times. Men love grilling a big piece of raw meat over a fire and enjoy the benefits of doing it well. Now there are gas grills that make this task simple and cleaner. These grills require less maintenance, easy to clean, and can burn for hours without having to change the fuel. Charcoal grills are bigger now and are more attractive. But if you have cooked on a gas grill and a charcoal grill, there is no doubt that a gas grill beats the charcoal hands down. Gas grills are far more sophisticated than charcoal ones.

There are many benefits associated with using a gas grill over a charcoal grill. You don’t have to worry about changing your fuel. There is no wait time with gas. With charcoal, you have to pre-light it and wait for at least 45 minutes before you can start cooking. If you are cooking food that takes longer than a hour before it is done, you most likely will have to change coals and start over. A gas grill only requires a push of a button and you have instant fire. Gas grills can run for hours or if you only need to cook for a short period of time, no problem.

The burners, which are the heating source, are designed to distribute heat evenly while cooking. To ensure this, lava rocks and stones are placed appropriately to provide even heat. When you use charcoal you can never be certain that the food will cook evenly. Charcoal can heat up to temperatures of 1000 degrees and if you need that kind of heat it works well. But if you don’t, it can be a mess. Sometimes you have to deal with flare-ups and fires that can ruin your food. There are temperature controls installed on gas grills that allow you to cook on low heat if needed and a higher temperature if that is required also.

Gas grills come with some different functions that allow you to warm your food in warming drawers and there is a side burner that you can cook anything on. Charcoal grills can’t offer these accommodations. Gas grills allow for faster cooking and it heats up in just minutes. The charcoal grill function in this capacity. The aesthetics of gas grills make them a wonderful addition to any patio or deck.
