You have to make sure that rain, wind or snow doesn’t make contact with the screen of the digital signage and the temperature inside the enclosure is appropriate. It doesn’t matter if the sign is inside or outside but it should look the part. Some enclosures can look too industrial or boxy. Digital signage is dependent on the aesthetics for it to be effective. But the capability of the enclosure is vitally important.

You want to attract as many customers as possible when you are deciding on your digital signage campaign and you want to choose the most dynamic and eye-catching content to make them notice. But if it is being displayed in a unattractive and boxy enclosure it can take away from the effectiveness of the design and the content will be blocked. Outdoor digital signage doesn’t have to dull and there are many eye-popping designs and innovations that will protect LCD and plasma screens but look modern and sleek in an outdoor location.

There are two different categories for digital signage enclosures, one that are for wall or ceiling mountings or free standing. Freestanding enclosures should be large enough to uphold the screen at eye level and are normally portrait orientation on a sturdy base. Many contain a small PC or media player also. Wall or ceiling mounts is usually a smaller design so there is no need for a base and many are in landscape orientation. The LCD enclosure should always be as close as possible no matter the mount and at eye level to avoid it from being missed. Both styles of enclosure allow circulation and filter systems that prevent overheating and protect from humidity. Most allow space for a media-playing device as well.

Try not to over do it when making sure that your outdoor signage is attractive. Some designs can distract the consumer and they will miss the content that should be the focus of any digital signage campaign. Some enclosures that contain bright colors can block the message that the business is trying to get to the consumers. The right balance can be hard to find but if you remember to select an attractive enclosure that is plain and black, it will draw the eye to the content and help highlight the signage. You don’t want to take away from the message but you want to get the consumers attention. Digital signage will definitely get attention and it can help to get your message delivered to many possible customers.
