Landscape tools are very important when it comes to landscaping projects. Landscaping projects can help improve the look of your yard considerably, but there is a good deal of work required. Many tools available can help make these jobs easier, or in some cases, even possible. There are a few basic groups of tools that can help you perform a multitude of task. They are listed below.

The first tool group is the shovel.

The second tool group is the rake.

Group 3 is the lopper, shear or pruner.

The wheel barrel or garden cart is the fourth group of tools.

Group 1 is the shovel, which can be one of the most important tools for most. It is basically two parts, a handle and a flat piece of metal on the end. There are three types of shovel, each which varies by the shape of the metal. The first is the pointed or round tip shovel, which slices in to soil well. It is primarily used for digging. The second is the narrow shovel, which also digs, but makes smaller holes and work well in tight spaces. The last is the flat shovel, which is great for scooping. It does not dig into soil well, but has a larger surface area for moving things like gravel or sand.

The rake is the second group of tools, which comes in two main forms. The first is the bow rake, which is very sturdy and thick. It is perfect for moving heavy items like rock and gravel. The leaf rake is another type. It is thin and flexes well, which allows it to move light debris around without damaging the ground underneath.

The third tool group is the pruner, shear or lopper. These cut, trim and clip things to size. Small pruners cut through small, but tough, material. Long grass shears are used to trim materials such as tall grasses or shrubs. Loppers are powerful tools used to cut through thick and tough material such as tree limbs.

Group 4 is the garden cart or wheel barrel. These tools are essential for moving bulky or heavy materials around. The main difference is that garden carts have two wheels and wheel barrels one. Garden carts have lower maneuverability, but great stability. Wheel barrels are the opposite, with higher maneuverability and lower stability.

Landscape tools provide you the ability to perform many landscaping tasks. From digging holes with a shovel, to carting loads of gravel for a walkway with a wheel barrel, these tools are critical for many landscaping jobs.
