Many people are still cautious about trying out online dating sites even though they are becoming more and more popular. They are somewhat concerned about what will be required of them. The rules of dating were taught to us as children but now with computers and online dating, the rules have changed and many don’t know what to do or not to do. Using some tips for online dating can stop you from embarrassing yourself or unintentionally offending a potential mate.

It is acceptable to talk to more than one person at a time and you can also write emails to those who have made contact with you. Normally, one of five emails you send out will get a reply. If there is someone you are interested in, you don’t have to wait for him or her to contact you before you contact someone else who is of interest to you also. You are required to reply to someone who has contacted you. You can ignore a person’s email if you feel that person is not a good match for you. You don’t have to explain why you didn’t reply or give an explanation if you are not interested. This is perfectly fine in the online dating world. You are breaking any rules by not replying or writing back. It could be worse to write and say that you are not interested.

When breaking up online, that is a different story. If you met someone online and went on a date and it didn’t work out, you can send him or her an email telling them that you do not want to continue corresponding. But if you actually dated, that is more than the first date, to break up by email without an explanation or to just stop writing is not acceptable. You should explain why and should be as polite and amicable as possible. You don’t have to stop writing others if you have gone on dates as long as it is still casual. If you do become serious with someone, it is against online dating rules to keep your profile active. You can remain and member but you would need to change your status.

The online dating rules are common rules for general correspondence. There is no tolerance for dishonesty, profanity and rudeness. It is hard for site owners to control the behavior of the members. Heavily monitored sites, like India online dating and other foreign sites, can offer protection from unpleasant experiences.
