Whenever you're trying to deliver goods to clients or customers around the country, there are a lot of different options available to you. Most people think about ground transport as being the most efficient and cost effective way of shipping. A San Francisco courier company will tell you that the majority of their orders which come in are for just that. There are times when more speed is important to the client of a delivery company though, and this is where air transport comes into play.

NFO shipments are an important part of how courier companies offer air service to their customers. As with ground shipping, there are usually several different options which clients have to choose from when they are selecting an air shipping model. A good example of this is international shipping. If you're shipping to Europe you're almost going to have to ship by air, but you will have several options regarding the speed at which you need your package expedited.

NFO stands for next flight out, and is in almost every case the fastest method that you can ship via air. When a courier offers NFO shipping, it means that they access all of the flights that they are able to leaving from the local airport, and find the fastest possibly time that they can take to get your package successfully delivered.

NFO availability and effectiveness is determined by two primary factors. The first is the courier company themselves. They need to have good relationships with the airlines that are available and to have a good NFO system in place. That way they can be sure to get you the best possible times from the flights that are available to you.

The second is simply the flights themselves. When you're flying out of a major center with one or more international airport options, you have a massive amount of flights for your courier to choose from. This gives them the flexibility to find you good shipping times to almost anywhere in the world. When you're shipping from a much smaller center though, the options can be a lot more limited. If you feel like you're going to have to ship on an NFO basis fairly often, it's always a good idea to check with your courier to see what estimate NFO times to your primary shipping targets look like. This can help you to better plan any future shipping.
