Shipping some goods isn't as simple as just loading them in the back of a trailer and sending them on to their destination. As any good Albuquerque courier can tell you, there are certain types of shipments which can be very sensitive to temperature. As such, these goods need to be shipped in carefully temperature controlled trailers, as well as be handled in a such a way that minimizes their exposure to air which could cause them to heat and become damaged or spoiled.

One of the most common industries where temperature controlled shipping is an absolute necessity is the pharmaceutical industry, and the medical shipping business. Drugs and medical material are most of the time very sensitive to temperature, and have to be stored in such a way that their temperature can be controlled at all times. Otherwise, they can quickly become damaged and worthless, something that can be both costly and jeopardize the health of patients that may be depending on the reliability of the shipping.

In order to carry pharmaceuticals or medical material, a courier needs to have certain licenses and permits. Part of getting a company certified to carry such goods is showing that they have the proper equipment to transport this type of material. This means having a variety of refrigerated trailers in which temperature can be precisely controlled. Some shipments only need to be kept cool, while others might need to be entirely frozen.

One of the main techniques used by companies that are delivering these types of materials is to try and minimize the amount of time the goods are ever surrounded by outside air. They are always carried in isolated containers to increase the amount of time it will take them to warm to the air temperature, but are loaded and unloaded indoors as often as possible so that they are always surrounded by temperature that is controlled, rather than simply being exposed to the heat, and the sun.

For a courier company that specializes in the transportation of pharmaceuticals, temperature should always be one of their primary concerns. If there is ever a chance that you are going to require short term storage with the courier for these types of goods, they should be able to reassure you that they also have all the proper equipment for storing these goods in warehouses while also maintaining the proper degree of refrigeration.
