If you haven't shipped with a courier company many times before, or have just signed up for a new courier service, you might not be aware of the various speed of delivery time options that you have available to you. The average Chicago courier service will have several different delivery times available for you to choose from depending on the distance over which you are trying to ship your package.

Typically speaking, a courier company will have different speeds available for every delivery that they make. The important thing to realize is that the faster that you want your deliveries made, the more you are going to pay for shipping. However, if you're willing to pay for it, you can be surprised by how fast you can get packages shipped.

The faster courier delivery times usually start at something described as next day delivery. This is when your package will be delivered to its recipient before the end of the day following the day on which the package is picked up. Keep in mind that this often won't be the same day that you place the order unless you call before the cutoff time for the day which is typically early in the day.

The next level of speed is usually called same day delivery. To get actual same day delivery, you will also have to place your request for delivery before a cut off time early in the morning. After doing this though, you will immediately have a driver dispatched to come pick up your package. The shipment will then be completed before the end of that every day. There are some companies which offer same day delivery to anywhere in the country.

The next faster shipping option is rush delivery. This is pretty much as fast as it gets. As soon as you place the call for a rush order the driver is on their way to make the pickup. Unlike other deliveries though, the driver won't stop to make any other pickups or deliveries along the way, providing you with the absolute fastest possible delivery time.

If you're only shipping within a single city or metropolitan area, you may have some other, faster delivery options. These are usually phrased in terms of a certain number of hours that it may take to complete the deliveries, such as four hour, two hour, or one hour deliveries, although these options may only be available during certain times of the day.
