Multiple stop shipments are when a company needs to deliver a large shipment of freight or cargo to multiple customers or clients. This often happens in the case of large companies who need to ship freight to distribution points such as a factory sending out shipments to storefront locations. This happens quite often, and some companies hope that they can find a way to save either time or money by using more than one courier company to help complete this type of multiple stop shipment. A San Francisco delivery company will often get requests from larger clients about trying to use multiple courier companies to complete this type of a shipment.

The truth is that this option is something that can be explored if you in fact believe that it is worthwhile for your company to do so. One of the most common ways this is done is by using companies which may share distribution terminals at certain points along delivery routes. For example, if an east coast company manufactures a product and delivers it to points all throughout the country, the company may ship with one company to a more central location, and then hire localized couriers from regions which may use that common distribution terminal to carry the shipments to points within their own areas of service.

This type of service is possible, but in almost every case it is actually going to be more affordable, and save more time, to simply place the complete order with your courier company to move your goods and allow them to sort out the details. Many of these companies have partnership agreements with other courier companies that will allow them to distribute your goods effectively even outside of their service areas, and can do so at the same great prices that you expect from smaller local courier companies. This can often be cheaper than arranging your own multiple courier shipment solution.

Sometimes companies prefer a more hands-on approach to shipping and distribution which is why they choose to organize their own shipping efforts using multiple companies on multiple stop shipments. However, this can be very time consuming for someone without experience in the shipping industries, and the time saved by allowing a courier company to sort out these types of details can also be a valuable amount of time saved. So while this type of shipping is an available option, it is not always the best one.
