It’s a commonly misconstrued view that excessive facial sweating affects only obese or overweight people. Though the condition of hyperhidrosis is aggravated by such weight problems, yet it occurs in people who are maintaining their weight in the ranges considered healthy for their age, gender and height. People, who have the problem of excessive facial sweating which is medically termed as Facial Hyperhidrosis, aren’t only suffering from the excessive perspiration, but also from the psychological trauma caused by the condition. It often makes them feel embarrassed, isolated, helpless and even paranoid or antisocial; such dramatic changes can impact their lives in a negative manner.

Now don’t be taken in by its nomenclature, as facial hyperhidrosis is likely to affect more than just the face. Not only the face but also the scalp and the neck can be affected with the excessive sweating. People suffering from this condition will be often subjected to a downpour of sweat from their face, neck and head, whenever they are involved in any physical activity of the slightest degree. Women have to contend with more annoyance caused by their excessive facial sweating, as it will ruin their makeup often.

Facial hyperhidrosis doesn’t mean the end of the world for a suffering person, as it can be treated with either surgical or non surgical methods. Surgery is likely to involve risks, side effects and other complications, besides considerable monetary costs. Antiperspirants are commonly used as the non invasive treatment for excessive facial sweating. Usually they can be bought over the counter and are known to be very effective in the treatment of this condition. Topical antiperspirant solutions are also available, and they should be left on the skin for about 6 – 8 hours. To know the exact time duration, you should read the instructions given with the product. These solutions should be applied only on skin that’s absolutely dry; otherwise it will cause severe skin irritation. When the solution is washed off, sweating is likely to start all over again. So it’s not a cure for the problem of facial sweating. Rather, it provides a temporary relief from the condition.

Nowadays the dermatologists as well as the doctors are exploring various treatment procedures for the problem of excessive sweating. The Botox treatment is widely known, which utilizes the drug Botox, a known name in cosmetic surgery. Botox injections have proved to be successful in the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis, i.e. excessive sweating in the armpits. In this treatment side effects of the drug are likely, its effectiveness is from a few months up to one year, and the costs are considerable. Botox treatment may not suit you if you’re averse to hypodermic injections.

In these days new remedies, herbal or others, are being developed or discovered; so you need not give up hope. You can try some available methods to find out which one will work for your problem of facial sweating. Now you have the necessary information and it’s the time you get rid of your sweating problem for good.
