The aspect of choosing your wedding invitations can be as exhilarating but time and effort consuming. It can also be very confusing, just like in choosing one’s wedding dress. Just like most things in this world, fashion can also have a great deal of influence on our wedding choices and invitations. But then, both the contemporary and traditional wedding invitations have something to be proud of. It is just a matter of compromise, blending and mixture, enough to convey the message of love every couple needs to say with every invite. Here are some advisable tips for a 2009 wedding:

1. Go seasonal!
This may not be quite a popular choice in the past, except for a few couples who decide to marry in fall, and preferred to incorporate fall colors into their motif. These however have gained popularity recently and wedding invitations too are starting to portray patterns and designs pertaining to the four seasons. For a spring theme, pastel shades, Easter motifs and the conventional birds, bees and butterflies may be a good idea. For summer themes, vibrant shades as well as a more floral look coupled with sunshine and butterflies would be perfect. For fall, reds, oranges, golds, and browns, as well as yellows, may be suitable. Festive holiday colors are appropriate for winter, wherein you can also incorporate a couple of holiday symbols into the wedding theme.

2. Delimit your invitations with straight lines and borders.
Simplicity and minimalism never goes out of style. Embossed borders still did not fall out of style, and more contemporary styles usually use one thick line down on one side, and print it with the couple’s names.

3. Go for the bright!
Gone are the days of the pastels. What are more recent today are bold colors, specifically those with shades of green, blue, red and orange. Bolder shades such as aqua, hot pink, bright red, and rich jewel tones are among the latest craze. A combination of bright colors and interesting designs can make an invitation truly unique, and will surely enable you to gain a truckload of compliments!

4. Get a set of one of a kind fonts.
Thanks to technology, we have an endless supply of fonts and software that can generate us with anything we like. Deviate from the usual antique script that has already become increasingly boring. Modern and contemporary fonts are already available, and perhaps incorporation of two very different fonts and using various sizes can help add flavor to the invitation. Modern and contemporary invitations look more like polished advertisements while the traditional ones look more like ancient letters to faraway lands.

5. Play around with wording.
Remember: let the invitation fit the style of your wedding. Most templates have formal wordings for traditional weddings, usually hosted by the bride’s parents. Nowadays the couples themselves are usually the hosts, making the wedding a more relaxed affair. You can go and experiment with words, as long as it will reflect your future spouse’s and your personality.

Today traditional stuffy invitations are often taken for granted and set aside as long as the wedding is over. Let your invitations be something new which will stand out even after the wedding is through.
