“Good character is when your head, heart, soul and hands agree to do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons and the combined effort gets the right results in the midst of the most adverse of conditions” William Cottringer.

Character building has emerged as a hot topic in schools. Now when I mention schools, I don’t mean that it is limited to them, instead character building forms a integral part in marriage counseling, sports settings and work settings as well. In a nutshell, it can be rightly said that character building has turned out to be a hot topic in today’s world.

But the question that possibly clicks on everybody’s mind is that “What’s so unique about character building or rather why you think character building is so important?” Well, one of the prime reasons behind this growing popularity may be because of the fact that it is the chief purpose of our lives. And you will be surprised to know that character building and success are the two opposite sides of the same coin. I know that the entire thing may sound a bit strange but after taking a look at the explanation included below I guess you’ll agree to what I say.

To begin with, you cannot attain your desired thing in life unless and until you possess a good character. Considering this, it can be rightly said that nothing can be more important than character building. If you want to go for a good character building then make sure you:

* Follow the right ethical and moral values
* Help others without expecting anything in return
* Opt for the challenging jobs as they are sure to help you with positive results in the days to come
* Avoid saying something negative or derogatory about someone
* Avoid falling prey into your retaliation or obsessing desires even if you have been abused by your classmates or humiliated by your teachers
* Face challenges rather than stepping back because of the fear of failure

There are quite a few personal values that help a child to develop a good character. These personal values or rather the building blocks of character building include:

1. Compassion
2. Dependability
3. Optimism
4. Cooperation
5. Diligence

18. Tolerance
19. Creativity
20. Loyalty
