Avoid getting any pets. Pet dander and hair can trigger allergic reactions. If you have a pet, you should brush them at least one time a week to remove any excess hair or dander. You should brush them outside to avoid causing any buildup of dander or hair in your home.

Try to keep your indoor air as allergen free as possible. It might be tempting to open a window to let the fresh air in, however, when you do this you let the pollen into your home. So keep your windows shut. Also, be sure to change the filters on your air conditioner quite often.

One way to keep allergies under control is to be sure that you keep a clean bathroom. While this is obviously essential for hygiene, it also will make a big impact on allergies because an unclean bathroom will be a perfect breeding ground for mold. Be sure to clean your bathroom at least once a week.

Remove houseplants from your home. Houseplants can be a breeding ground for mold that triggers allergies. If you must have houseplants in your home, remove any leaves that have mold on them. You should also be sure that you avoid letting water sit in the tray after watering your plants.

If you find yourself battling rhinitis or seasonal allergies to pollen and spores, you should always keep the windows in your home closed if possible. At the very least, close them between the hours of 5 and 10 in the morning; this is the time of day in which plants release higher concentrations of pollen.

A common allergen is nickel, so take heed. Unfortunately, nickel is a common metal used in many types of jewelry used for body piercing. This metal can cause a lifetime of sensitivity when the body is exposed to it. Nickel also causes reaction symptoms, such as redness, itchiness and blisters. A safer bet is to buy jewelry made of gold or surgical-grade stainless steel.

Avoid foods that encourage mucus. Try not to eat too much red meat, dairy products, wheat, and fried foods. These foods tend to increase mucus production, which can lead to misery for anyone who suffers from allergies. Stick to water, fruits, and vegetables in order to keep feeling good throughout the year.

Shop smart. If you are on a tight budget and suffer from seasonal allergies, then the cost of the medication may deter you from buying the products that offer relief. A great way to save money on these products is to scan the local advertisements and search for coupons and deals to save money, whenever possible.

As stated before, allergies result from different things, such as what we touch, breathe, or even eat. Anyone who has ever suffered from an allergy knows how bad it can get. The information that you've read should shed some light on ways to combat any allergies that you are suffering from.
