Have you ever been interested in learning about cigars? The proper way to smoke them? How to enjoy a fine cigar? What about how one lights a cigar? These are all very common questions that arise when a person interested in cigars first starts out on their new hobby. Cigar smoking is a very relaxing and enjoyable hobby but you must first learn all the “newby” questions to make your new hobby all that it can be. It can be difficult to find quality information about the proper way to handle and enjoy a cigar. In fact, not knowing some of the proper practices can actual ruin your experience and may prevent you from delving further into a rather enjoyable hobby.

Lighting a Cigar

One of the most common mistakes that a new smoker makes is not learning how to properly light one. This can ruin your experience by not allowing you to enjoy the smoke and taste ,the way the creators intended. In order to light it properly you should cut the end (the head or part you are going to put in your mouth) of it off using specially made snippers. When you have the end cut off you can proceed to lighting your cigar either using a cigar lighter or a wood match. You should avoid using a standard cigarette lighter to light it as that can devastate the taste by leaving an odor that can seep into your cigar and give it a bitter taste. To properly light your cigar, you should firmly hold it over the flame while drawing in simultaneously. When you have the it lit, it is time for you to smoke and enjoy your cigar.

Best Practices

When smoking your cigar, you should not smoke it all the way down to a nub. The reason is that the end is quite bitter and it will destroy your smoking experience. Also, the proper way to tend to the ashes at the end, is to let them fall off naturally in an ashtray. If you try and knock the ashes off, often times you will snuff out the cigar and be forced to re light it which can compromise the taste. Observing these best practices will greatly increase your enjoyment.

Enjoy Yourself

A cigar is meant to be enjoyed rather than “just smoked” so try and set some time aside to relax and enjoy smoking. It can be very relaxing to savor one after a nice meal or in the evening with your favorite drink. A cigar is best smoked by taking a puff and letting the smoke swish around in your mouth rather than inhaling deeply. You want to taste the it and enjoy the experience without harming your lungs or coughing. A great way to enjoy a nice cigar is either with friends and family or in a nice lounge where you can really get lost in the experience and truly enjoy your new hobby. Cigar smoking is one of life’s fine pleasures and can be enjoyed to the fullest if smoked correctly.
