Why is it that 95% of home based businesses never survive after 5 years? I promise you it's not what they're doing, it's how they're doing it. If you follow these 7 steps below, you're on the right track for you business to be a long term operation.

Here are 7 Steps to Ensure Your Home Based Business Remains a Long-Term Asset, Not Just a Short One-Time Fluke

Step #1 - Work on your business everyday. Doesn't matter how big or small the activity.just do something (yes, even on Sunday's). It takes time to build a viable and profitable home based business and your kidding yourself if you think you can do this over night.

Step #2 - Find someone else in your industry who has been successful and model after them. There's no reason to re-invent what already works..that would be foolish. I'm not saying that you can't put your own branding on it. Rather follow the profitable concepts and tweak the minor things that will give you recognition and leadership power. This almost ensures your home based business remains a long-term asset.

Step #3 - Build relationships with your prospects. I can't stress enough how important this is for you. Ignoring this will make sure your home based business is a short one-time fluke. I suggest you read this book by Gary Vaynerchuk title The Thank You Economy where he explains how businesses can harness all the changes and challenges inherent in social media and turn them into tremendous opportunities for profit and growth.

Think about this.Do you ever buy anything from someone you don't know, like or trust? Then why would you even think your prospects will? Get to know who they are, thier families, their occupations, what they do for recreational fun, etc. Always make everything about them and nothing on you. Trust me, once they trust you and see you that have a solution to thier problems, they'll sell themselves.

Step#4 - Learn balance and unplug yourself each and everyday. Turn the phone off, shut the comptuter down and anything else tied to your business and spend this time with your spouse, kids, friends or with yourself. This is key in maintaining a positive and productive flow in your business and avoids burn out.

Step #5 - Practice personal development daily. Nothing ever happens to you, everything happens from within you. You are never stanidng in the same place. You are either growing and getting stroner, or dying and getting weaker. Start your day reading something powerful and uplifting, listen to at least 30min of motivational audio and write down your daily goals.

These things really do help. If you're not growing, either is your business. Stay focused, positive and discover your higher power. You'll be amazed on how following this simple daily routine will transform every aspect of your life.

You must become success, not chase success. Chasing success is harder than chasing butterflies, it's like trying to herd cats. Success is something you attract by being the person you wish to be. It's a mindset that operates according to the standards you've set for yourself. You'll never out perform your inner beleifs. If you're not where you want to be in life it's because you don't beleive you can get there.

Step #6 - Go the extra mile. This will pay off in abundance almost immediately. Hard work is not an option when it comes to success. If something needs to be done, do it. In other words, if someone calls then call them back, if someone emails then reply to them, if a prospect or customer gives you business then give them more in use value
than they paid you in monetary value. If you understand what I just said then you can be sure you home business will remain a long-term asset.

At the end of each day ask yourself this one question, "Did I do the best I could today?" Always do the best you can. It doesn't matter if you see the rewards at the present moment. If you do the best that you can then God, the universe or whichever higher power you beleive in will see to it that you'll reap the rewards.

Step #7 - Set goals. A goal not written down is just a wishful thought. Write down what you want in life, who you want to be and the things you want to do. Our subconscious mind is connected to our handwriting, handwriting analysis proves this. As you physically write down your goals, you are commanding your mind to vizulaize what you want. Since our minds operate on picture and symbols, you are literally programing your mind to take the proper steps to completing each goal you write.
