The divorce is finalized and you may stop to think about how things might play out for your children even after couple of years from now. You wanted to make it work, but regrettably, it was unsalvageable. However, your child can still thrive in their new life without both parents living together. What are the three major effects of divorce on children? They are outlined below:

1. SEPARATION.

The children will experience the separation of their family. Before they could always spend time with both of their parents together, that is no longer the case now. They may also find they are spending more time with one parent than they used to before. The child may want to see one parent and then once they arrive at that parent's house they may want to return to the other parent's home or feel bad if they have too much fun with the other parent.

2. ADAPTATION.

Children are always fast to adapt and in cases of divorce it still remains true. The child will understand that they are still receiving the same love from their parents and that is what counts. They may be introduced to new potential spouses and have even have a set of pets at each parents house. The child can often like having two different styles of house and life to visit though. They soon learn that no matter where they are, they can make it their home.

3. INSTABILITY.

Divorce can often leave a child feeling lost or unsure about their future. Often a divorce ca lead to one of the parents compensating through an addiction. This addiction though can be troublesome for the child. For example, if it's a computer addiction, they may have a difficult time getting the time and attention that they need from that parent.

Kids are resilient and sometimes all the worrying that you may do will never come to fruition. Your child will learn from the experience, so try not to make it a negative thing. Remember your childhood and the problems you coped with, it will help you understand how your children can cope. Your children will survive and thrive with proper care with a loving home and perhaps even a professional therapist. You children will probably learn a lot about dealing with emotions through the process and this is a positive thing. If you are getting divorced it is important to consider your children, but don't think that it is going to have a negative effect on them.
