Tomorrow is the one day a year that just about all Americans feel patriotic. Independance Day is the most important day in American history; the birth of a new nation, instilled with the spirit of liberty, freedom, and unalienable rights.

Most people don't know that July 2nd was supposed to be the celebrated day, as that was the day that the declaration of independence was made, even though it was officially signed on July 4th. John Adams even said to his wife:

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."

Whether the 4th or the 2nd of July isn't that important anymore, as we've accepted that the day is July 4th. What is important is that we keep the spirit of 1776 alive. 236 years ago, the founding fathers risked their lives to tell the world that they were free, not bound to any king or tyrant, and willing to do what they had to to ensure that their future generations lived in a free and acceptable society.

What would they say to us today, seeing what we have done with the freedom and liberty they fought for? Would they think we've done a good job of continuing their fight for liberty, or would they be disgusted with what we've done to it. Would they congratulate us for how we've preserved and defended their legacy, or would they advocate a second revolution to free us once again from the chains that bind us.

If you think they would approve, or if you can't even answer the question, let me fill you in: Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin and the 52 other signers of the Declaration of Independance would most likely see what we have become, and curse us to damnation for ruining their great experiment.

There were only a few things they wanted for us: peace, liberty, freedom. We haven't had any of those three for at least 100 years, and we seem to lose more and more every year. Just this year, we've lost more freedom in the way of NDAA, allowable drone use in the US, and Obamacare being ruled constiutional by the Supreme Court.

So what can we do? What should we do? I think the appropriate question is what would our founding fathers do? I think that question can be answered directly by our founding fathers:

" But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
