To feel your best it s important to try and look your best. Someone s confidence in the way they look can give an obvious positive effect on their lives. People who look good and feel good are more likely to succeed, and are less likely to have knock backs.

People who suffer from acne can get hindered both physically in the way they look, and emotionally, in the way they feel, by its presence. Not everyone will get acne; so for those that do, it can make them feel as if it is their fault or there s something not normal about them. People who have never been afflicted also have misconceptions about the problem. These misconceptions, coupled with the fact that it isn t pleasant to look at, can result in the lucky ones treating people with acne differently, adding to the emotional burden.

So trying to avoid acne, knowing the causes and successful treatment if it does occur, should really be generally well known by sufferers and non sufferers alike because you never know, it may well be you who suddenly has to deal with it.

As always, prevention is far better than any cure. Fortunately there are ways in which you can reduce the chances of developing acne without having to go out and spend money on creams, washes or gels. Making sure you follow and stick to simple everyday advice with regards to general hygiene and giving your body the best chance to fight acne if it does occur by staying as healthy as possible should be the greatest preventative measure you can take.

Such advice includes, drinking lots of water, everyday. At least 8 glasses or two liters of water is recommended to help your body cleanse itself efficiently.

For women, the amount of time spent wearing make up should be kept to a minimum and removing it should be done carefully to make sure it is removed properly. Make up will block pores and stop the skin from breathing and releasing toxins, and can trap bacteria in the skin. Always avoid sleeping in make up.

Keep a careful eye on anything that comes into contact with your face, such as pillows and towels. They should be washed regularly, as should your hands. Minimize the transfer of bacteria to your face and consider all the ways in which it could be transferred.

Healthy eating is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Good, nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables help cleanse our bodies including our skin. Vitamins and minerals are essential, as are anti oxidants, in the process of waste and toxin removal. Zinc and beta carotene are especially good for maintaining and repairing the skin, and play a useful part in the repair of acne sores and scars.

A poor diet and unhealthy habits may not directly cause acne but they will certainly hinder combating it. Following general good health advice and limiting the chances of bacteria getting to your pores can keep you looking great and feeling great about yourself, so you are free to get on and make the most of your life.
