Hair loss is something many of us have to deal with as we get older, and it can be a distressing experience for both men and women alike. Although the thinning out of our hair is just a natural part of the ageing process, those that experience excessive hair loss at a relatively young age may want to try and combat the situation. Whilst there can be many reasons for your hair falling out, from genetics to stress or your diet, there is usually something that can be done to least slow down your progression towards baldness.

Several over the counter hair loss treatments are readily available these days, often in the form a a shampoo. These medicated treatments are designed to reduce and even stop the rate at which the hair is falling out, and some people have even reported experiencing new hair growth with them. On the downside, they unfortunately do not work for everyone. They are also quite expensive to buy, and you will be reliant on them indefinitely if you want to keep hold of your hair for good.

As an alternative to such expensive medical shampoos, many folk prefer the use of natural home remedies to deal with their hair loss problem. Although there are plenty of so called miracle cures that are talked about, here are a few that have actually proven themselves to be beneficial to both preventing hair loss and promoting healthy new hair growth.

Aloe Vera juice is a substance known for its soothing and moisturising properties. Since hair loss is often attributed to, at least in part anyway, poor scalp health, anything that improves the quality of the scalp will be of benefit. Aloe Vera juice can be used as a lotion applied directly to the scalp before shampooing, or you can find shampoos that actually contain Aloe Vera. Regular use will soothe your scalp from any irritations, and will ensure that natural levels of moisture are maintained.

In order for healthy hair growth to occur, the scalp needs a good supply of oxygen and important nutrients. These are delivered to the scalp through the blood circulated around the body, and so healthy circulation is important in dealing with hair loss. Ginkgo Bilbao is a herbal supplement that is useful for improving the circulation of blood, which will in turn result in better scalp health and hair growth. Exercise too will help improve the flow of blood around the body and to the scalp, and it is recommended you get in two or three sessions of cardio routines a week to help boost circulation.

There are many supplements that are beneficial for people worried about losing their hair, and non more so than a good all round multi vitamin. However, it is always better if you can provide your body with the nutrition it needs through your diet, rather than taking pills and potions. Herbal supplements and lotions are good at supporting this natural nutrition, and can play a vital role in maintaining a healthy scalp and strong hair growth.
