One skill you exemplify applying for a job is your ability to communicate. Regardless whether the vacant position requires such skill, the successful oral presentation is essential in the process of your candidature evaluation. Four are the most important and useful tactics that will help you to improve your chances to receive the desired job during the job interview: You Viewpoint, Adaptation, Positive Statement, and Success Consciousness.
You Viewpoint
When you try to sell something, obviously you do it with the idea to make money. When you apply for a job, you simply attempt to sell yourself. Your target is the same - earning some money, although you do not tell it. Putting this main idea into words will make you look selfish and bad-mannered although both parties assume it. The business reason for your oral presentation during the interview is to get appointed. When you demonstrate, that you are aware of and are doing something for another person's needs, your suggestions will be treated more favorably. During the job interview you must be creative and persuade the potential employer that you are thinking of what you can offer to the company in return to the requested action. If you do so you will look responsible, studious and trustworthy. In order to succeed you must imagine the interviewers' expectations and probable reactions and speak to those terms in your answers.
Adaptation
Try to adapt talking points during the job interview for increased persuasiveness in order to influence the receivers to take the action you aim - to be appointed. This means to adapt language and style in the light of interviewers' age, educational level, vocation, employer's requirements for the vacant position and organizational culture. Further, in order to be a successful applicant you must have analyzed the company you applied for. Carefully examine the company's website; find additional information about the firm's history, management, organizational structure, geographic locations, financial results, products and services and its achievements. Knowing more for the company and the job you have applied for will help you to convince the potential employer that you can provide service that fits company's needs. If you are a candidate for a prestigious job, you are safer if using longer and sophisticated sentences, specialized terms and more formal language in order to look professional, knowledgeable and suitable candidate for the job.
Positive Statement
Your verbal presentation has higher chances to lead to success if you focus on positive ideas and look enthusiastic. Stressing on your own achievements and to the strengths of the company you want to be employed means, that you increase your odds for an affirmative response.
Negative: I have no experience other than being a legal intern for the company "X."
Positive: Working as a legal intern for the company "X" one summer taught me.
Keeping your statements and answers positive also means avoiding negative words. You cannot say, "unable to," "cannot," "disappointment," "failed to" and other negatives without making the interviewers react against you. The effective way is through stressing on the positive, eliminating the negative where possible, and fitting your qualifications to Job Requirements.
Success Consciousness
Success Consciousness is the favorable, positive attitude that the interviewers will do if they decide to appoint you. To reflect this attitude, be aware of any wording suggesting that you may fail by definitely omitting doubtful sounding expressions. The word if is an example of Success Consciousness destroyer. It can be replaced with the more reliable words like hope, trust, sure, confidence, achievements. Success Consciousness is your own conviction, that you are the best candidate for the vacant position, willing to contribute for the achievement of the organizational goals.
To summarize: Notwithstanding the explicit requirements for the job you apply for, your verbal performance skills during the job interview are essential in order to convince the employer, that you are the most suitable candidate for the announced vacancy. In order to increase your chanced to receive the work you long for you must plan beforehand your verbal presentation. The efficient usage of tactics like You Viewpoint, Adaptation, Positive Statement and Success Consciousness will improve your chances to get the desired job.
