Temporary employment agencies play a vital role in the corporate world these days. In particular, an employment agency provides suitable employees to a corporate-client looking for manpower. The employment agency has to see to it that the personnel they provide are trained and armed with the needed set of proficiencies.

Most employment agencies focus on a number of specific professions and service fields. There are agencies that deal on accounting, legal service, technical jobs, health care, and secretarial works. Remember however, that inherently the work is non-permanent. Sooner or later, the workers taken into service by the agency will be deployed to a given employer and work in there for a determined time-frame only.

History tells us that it was in the year 1965 when Henry Robinson conceptualized and introduced the term employment agency. The British government did not seem to like his proposal. In consequence, it compelled him to launch a private staffing agency on his own. His business venture, however, did not last long. Sometime in 1893, Fred Winslow founded also his private engineering agency.

In the earlier part of the 19th century, places like America and England implemented the idea about public recruitment. Soon after, many other developed States established publicly-managed staffing agencies. The primary objective was to address the problem on unemployment. From then on, many people were able to enjoy wider options in terms of employment career. While others were absorbed to be permanent employees, some were further hired by bigger companies.

In these days, employers are heavily tied with employment agencies. As seen by them, the easiest way to do away with the process of hiring workers is to call an employment agency to finish the task. Understandably, the contract is signed by and between the agency and the employer. The agency will make the necessary legal papers or contract involving the assignment of the worker. That is why, with regards to the status of employment, the worker will deal with the recruitment agency.

From the viewpoint of employers, it is beneficial to work with temporary employment agencies. Basically, employers are spared from preparing all legal documents such as working visa, tax requirement, and other employment documents. The non-permanent workers, in some cases, are not furnished with benefits.

Most workers find it more challenging working from one company-employer to another. To them, it is nice to know that at all times they have new opportunity to make use of their skills with, new room for development. Even if the nature of employment is temporary, the constant change of work assignment is somewhat refreshing.

The practice in the agency runs in this way. Applicants are admitted by the staffing agency. The applicants' documents and records are kept. In the meantime, the real employer sets the standards and the agency will post the same. In that case, the chosen workers will undertake selection process. The employer shall then put to work the suitable worker.

At times, the staffing agency looks for employers that are currently in need of workforce. By the time that the agency is called by the employer, it shall review then the credentials and applications closely relevant to the needed work. The chosen employee is given notice. Often times, the agency would subject the worker to undergo further tests to complete the hiring process.

Upon employment, remember that the worker is directly bound by the working standards of the employer, not the agency. Nevertheless, if the worker notices that the actual work is far different from the agreed work, he or she can refuse to continue working. In a situation like this, commonly employees are not being paid either by the employer or by the temporary employment agencies.
