We should get the obvious straight first. Trying to market something online is challenging. I am sure many of you've tried to market something on-line. Maybe it was your product or service or maybe you have been an affiliate for another person. In any event ., I guess you didn't do well the very first time you tried. I didnt have great results the initial 10 times I tried, so avoid getting discouraged. The issue many new markets experience is acquiring traffic to any promotion. You might have heard millions of times that the money is in the list but without traffic a subscriber list would have never been made. So, visitors are the life blood for very site, both promotional and non-promotional alike. I, like a lot of you, probably set up out very first website with affiliate product and then wait.and wait. The sad reality is generally traffic isn't going to magically appear in these situations. Then you might be wondering, so where are you supposed to get traffic? Many marketers constantly are learning new methods to drive traffic online, myself included. The main reason we're constantly learning is because the internet is constantly changing. So what worked yesterday might not work today. In the essence of the ever changing internet marketplace let us take a short look at the major traffic sources and the way they work.
One of the more popular sources of free traffic comes from social networks. I don't really need to explain to you want social networks are or the purpose of them. (If you don't know, Google it.) Social networking sites can be an efficient method of obtaining traffic if done properly. The proper way to acquire traffic from social networking sites it to develop relationships with other people within the online communities after which send them to the website you are trying to promote. The majority of people merely create spam profiles and attempt to send visitors to websites using this method. This won't work simply because social networking sites are all about making relationships with others. If you create relationships, other people will trust you, and this is key to getting quality traffic from social media sites.
Another free source of traffic online is getting your own blog in free websites like blogger. It becomes an older source of traffic but still effective if done correctly. The key point here is the same with social networking. You engage along with your readers, which in turn become return visitors that trust and like you. So, when you send them to a website which has a promotion, they're going to be more likely to take action because they already feel they know and trust you. Both social networks and blog sites are powerful resources for traffic but they also have a downside. The catch-22 with these 2 methods of free website traffic is that they take a considerable amount of time to keep these relationships and make new content.
The last and most effective method of obtaining visitors are the one a lot of people never even want to consider. This is not surprisingly, paid traffic. This will need to wait until my next post though. Since paid traffic is its very own separate subject.
