The Ferrari FF symbolizes several firsts for Ferrari, and no, FF does not stand for Ferrari Firsts, although, probably it ought to. The FF in reality refers to Ferrari Four. The car is a four seater, which is taking the place of the outgoing Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. However Ferrari have constructed a number of four seaters before, this is the first occasion that Ferrari has utilized four wheel drive on a road going car.

Four wheel drive is not the only first for this car though. Fans cannot fail to observe the design of the FF - as it is radically different than Ferrari's that have been manufactured in the past. The appearance is called 'shooting brake' and will be seen as a mixture of a coupe and an estate. Another way of observing it is so - it's a hatchback! The interior space this yields allows for nearly 400 litres of luggage, but, at the same time, the rear seating also collapse down allowing for this storage space to be multiplied by 2. Can you visualize doing all of your grocery shopping and having the capacity to squeeze everything in the rear of your Ferrari!

However, it's clearly not a Ford Focus. This hatchback has got a gigantic V12 engine that generates a whopping 660 bhp as well as 504lb ft of torque. That's sufficient to propel the Ferrari FF from zero to 62mph in less than 4 seconds, thanks partially to its 7 speed transmission already in use in the Ferrari 458 Italia along with the California. The maximum speed is not exactly lacking either - 208 MPH. Moreover, the engine - over 6.2 ltrs - is in fact the most intense engine Ferrari have put into a street car, and it is noteworthy that it brings a respectable (for a Ferrari) 18MPG.

The body-work design is from Ferrari's preferred styling house, Pininfarina, nevertheless one wouldn't assume so looking at it, such is the departure from preceding designs. In all honesty I suppose it's going to be a love it or hate it build, yet something is for certain, it's going to make heads turn.

It's pretty evident too that Ferrari is attempting to enhance the scale of their target audience with this car. The 4 wheel drive system for example means that it'll be driveable in more varied road conditions, most notably rain and snow. Its shooting brake design makes certain that the vehicle is also reasonable to use seven days a week, so you no longer have to choose between bringing the kids or your shopping home from the supermarket.

If this is the blueprint for Ferrari then I can't wait to find out what the replacement for their 599 will look like.

Without a doubt, Lexus and supercar may now be used in the same sentence, thanks to some real confidence exhibited by the Lexus hierarchy, and the impressive engineering proficiencies to not only pull it off, but to shine with their very first endeavor.

Historically, Lexus has certainly produced and presented luxury - there were certainly not any doubts there. Yet there's a substantial difference between a high class car and a luxury supercar, and this becomes clear the minute the Lexus LFA's unique V10 engine begins to sing.

The graphite body was primarily designed not merely for aesthetics, but to manipulate vastly improved acoustics from the 4.8-liter V10 engine. As mentioned by Lexus, it is tough to engineer a V10 that'll sound as satisfying as a V8 or V12, and as a consequence the supercar comes with one of a kind air intake sections to harmonize the acoustics.

The public launch of this first ever Lexus supercar occurred at the Tokyo Motor Show, with the North American launch occurring within 24 hours in Miami, Florida. The press pack at the North American unveiling for the LFA were fortunate enough to get not merely the opportunity to stay at South Beach's world-class Mondrian Hotel, but to also drive this phenomenal supercar across the Homestead Race Circuit. This is where the difference was apparent between a high-class four door and a supercar - that has 552 horsepower striking the 0-60 bench mark in under 4 seconds. The Lexus LFA tops out at roughly 202 miles per hour, accompanied by $10,000 brakes that are up for the task at hand.

Considering this is a first effort, Lexus definitely seem comfortable and confident in their latest undertaking, and have delivered a great addition to the always broadening supercar world. The LFA is anticipated to have a price of around $375,000 (or £240,000). Lexus are only planning to produce 500 LFA supercars, with first supply timetabled for later this year.
