Whether yours is a small or medium size business, you need packing boxes as much as a large corporation does. The most obvious use of packing and storage boxes is during a move. But they can also be used to hold items temporarily or permanently, thus helping keep the office uncluttered and neat. Using boxes ensures that the items being moved are safely handled and remain intact throughout the transition.

If you are in the supplies line of business, you more than anyone else need these boxes. This is what you will use to package the orders you are shipping or sending to your customers. The type of boxes you use says a lot about your business and can build or break your business relations. If you use poor quality boxes as a way of minimizing your operational costs, not only do you come off as cheap; you also risk causing damage to on-transit goods and running losses. This has two consequences: financial cost for you and delayed delivery for your client, which is the easiest way of losing business.

To maximize growth for your business, use only high quality packing boxes. Purchase your boxes from top companies only, who have a record of excellence and reliability. If you handle a lot of boxes in your business, you will save you if you purchase them in bulk. A lot of suppliers give special discounts for bulk orders, which can go a long way in minimizing your expenses. If on the other hand you only need a few boxes for temporary storage or moving, look for companies that supply boxes without minimum order limits. Most of these will give you the boxes at wholesale price, so you do not pay more than is reasonable for the sake of your business.

There are many types of boxes available and they all come in different sizes. They are usually made of cardboard, which is hardwearing and durable without being expensive. The specific type of box that you go for will depend on the items you need to pack. The box size is clearly indicated in length, width and height dimensions. The dimensions displayed on the boxes are usually internal; giving you an accurate measure of the exact space available on the inside of the box. It is very important to pick the right size of box so that all your items fit properly.

Some of the types of packing boxes commonly used in businesses are archive boxes, A4 box files, book cases, CD & DVD boxes, wardrobe boxes, bottle boxes, mug boxes, export boxes, single wall and double wall boxes among others. Single wall boxes are ideal for goods that border on light and medium weight as opposed to heavy. For heavy goods, use palletized containers/boxes, especially if you want to ship. They are supported on a timber pallet, covered firmly with a lid and are strong and highly reliable. Most of them have heat-treated wooden bases for endurance and can be used as an alternative for export boxes.

Not all boxes are designed for stacking. If you need to stack boxes together, buy pallet boxes. They are heavy duty and double walled with stacking strength. The manufacturer will indicate the maximum height up to which specific boxes can be stacked. Export boxes are specifically designed to endure stacking and can be palletized to accumulate items of different sizes.

Some boxes arrive fully assembled, particularly pallet boxes and palletized boxes. Others come ready for assembling with instructions on how to go about it. Always reinforce sealing and enhance the security of any box you assemble with packing tape.
