Many of us will remember getting the bus into town with our friends when we were younger so that we could look around the shops together and have fun, however this is now, unfortunately, a thing of the past! Both online and on the high street, the way that we shop is changing.
Previously, on a Saturday morning you would all pile into the car to drive to your local town where you would spend most of the day looking around the shops and the market. Now however, most of the shopping is done online or at large retail parks on the outskirts of town rather than "in town".
In the real world, the retail park is now king with each town now having multiple parks. The retail parks are all pretty similar with each having a small variety of electrical and furniture stores, the odd supermarket here and there and possibly a few fashion, toy or DIY shops now and again. As a result the shops such as book stores or wine merchants on the high street and struggling to stay open due to a lack of the customers.
Despite the retail parks, the internet is the biggest thing to change the face of how we shop. If you ask anyone, young or old, everyone has started shopping online to take advantage of the convenience and value that you can get by ordering online!
Due to the competition and low start up costs required for a company looking to sell online, you can turn the computer on, type into the search engine what you are looking for, say for example a bottle of "Julien Schaal", and instantly be presented with a list wine merchants and stores which have the bottle that you are looking for available. There are a lot of extra benefits to buying online as well. For example you can see what other people have to say about certain bottles of wine, check out special offers and find new wines based on wines that you do like. Once you have found the wine that you want to order, just select how many bottles you would like to order of each different wine. Once you are happy with the contents of your basket simply give them the delivery and payment details and wait until they magically turn up at your door - usually the next day! It so quick and easy to do!
Even shopping on the internet is evolving though, more and more shopping comparison sites which allow you to instantly find the best price for whatever you are looking for without even leaving a single site. As well as the cost of the product, these comparison sites will also highlight any discount codes and delivery charges that may apply. On top of this, cashback sites have grown in popularity, with an increasing percentage of people using cashback sites before ordering online and it often dictating which websites people shop with.
