Plasma TVs and LCD TVs are the most popular style of televisions today. They are both stylish and sleek; however, they are also known to be really expensive home appliances. Even though these two HDTV's have the same appearance, they both have distinct differences from each other. Know their features then decide which one you will choose.

When it comes to size, plasma TVs are usually heavier yet thinner as compared to LCD. This is because of the materials used as well as the compositions of these HDTVs. The average screen size of a plasma TV is below 40 inches. On the other hand, LCD screens have a range between 10 to 60 inches.

There is also a difference in their quality. Plasma TVs feature more advanced quality display. Moreover, this type of HDTV has the ability to display lag-free crisp images. While the LCD TVs can suffer from motion blur.

Screen burn-in is one of the disadvantages of a plasma TV. If the same image has been displayed for a longer period of time, some of the pixels of the TV will freeze that image forever. This will never happen to an LCD TV.

Apart from the quality, size and the burn-ins, their display resolutions are very different from each other. The screen of an LCD TV is brighter as compared to plasma. This is because LCD TVs have back-light shining behind the screen. Hence, it will be more difficult to view images from the side rather than straight on. Whereas plasma are self lit which makes viewing clearer from an angle.

Since plasma and LCD TVs are power consuming, there is still a dissimilarity. So which of the two consumes less power? Well, LCD TVs have lesser tendency to heat up. As for plasma, heating up is another disadvantage that's why it needs fan to cool down.

As mentioned earlier, these two gadgets are highly expensive. So which one is cheaper? According to observations, huge plasma televisions are a lot cheaper as compared to LCD TVs. However, if the size is medium or small, LCD TVs are less expensive than plasma. To conclude, buying LCD TVs will save you more money in comparison with plasma televisions.

It cannot be denied that these two types of televisions, plasma TV and LCD TVs are in demand because of their features. However, it is still in your hands to choose which HDTV is most suitable for your home and budget. These are just guidelines that may help you decide which TV set to buy. Whichever it is, they may still give you the satisfaction and entertainment you are looking for.
