Everyone wants to be fit; everyone wants to have a great body. But in most cases, it doesn’t happen that easily and we end up blaming our “slow” metabolism for everything. However now your goal can actually be achieved, because there are ways in which you can kick start your metabolism. And they work!

Have a balanced meal for your breakfast

Problems usually arise when you end up eating too much for breakfast. Yes, studies do say that it is great to make breakfast the most important and biggest meal of the day but that doesn’t mean that you eat just about everything! What you need is a balanced meal. It is not that great an idea to consume too much of carbohydrates in the morning, because that slows down your metabolism rate and also makes you sleepy. Add more protein too your breakfast. In fact, you should start the morning by drinking a lot of water. Not only is this good for the digestive system, but also wakes up your body and prepares it for its first meal.

Load up on the snacks

Snacking throughout the day can be quite beneficial in keeping the metabolism rate high. Of course, by snacks we don’t mean bagels, popcorns or chips. Rather, you should snack on healthy things like cold cuts, juices, crackers or fruit. And instead of having 3 big meals in the day, you might consider having 6 smaller ones. This way your snacks too become semi scheduled. So basically, you should eat something after every 2 hours. This way neither will your metabolism slow down nor will you reach out for larger helpings during meal times.

Exercise

Exercise is a great way to jolt up the metabolism. It also helps in burning fat. Try to do at least some sort of activity that makes the heart rate go faster, perhaps a quick walk or jog. Working out in the earlier part of the day, is better than working out in the night. However the crux of the matter is, whether it morning, noon or night, you must not skip your workout. In fact, it is even better if you schedule your workout according to your meal time. Eating within the first thirty minutes after exercising is essential in speeding up metabolism.

Be active during the afternoon

Afternoons can be quite a pain! The body feels lazy, and the mind feels sleepy which altogether can make you go into a slump. And this holds true even if you are in the office. So you need to spruce up the afternoon with more activities. Assign all your important work to the afternoon hours. This will ensure that you are more alert. The trick is to do anything that counters laziness. Also, this is the ideal time to treat yourself to some light snacks or perhaps even a chocolate. This will help in curbing your appetite and give your metabolism some boost.

Dinner should be light

Your body has less time to process food before you sleep and the digestive system is at its slowest. Therefore dinner should be smaller than lunch. Just before you sleep, have a glass of water.
