If you have been driving around in your golf cart for an extended period of time then you might want to think about getting some new replacement tires. And do not forget when buying new tires that there are different sizes and styles of golf cart tire which each style being designed for a specific type of use.

There are a number of things you should consider when replacing your original golf cart tires with new ones. In most cases we would recommend replacing all four tires at the same time. After all, if they all reasonably worn it makes sense to invest in a full set. But, if only one tire is damaged in an reasonably new set, here would be an example of a situation in which it is acceptable to replace just a single tire. In this case however make sure that any replacement matches the tires already in the vehicle or you could effect the vehicles handling and thus safety.

If you use your cart mostly on the golf course then you need to be looking at tires designed for such specific use. Tires designed for use on grass have minimal tread so that you can drive around the course without doing undue damage to the grass surface.

If you use your cart principally to get around the neighborhood and make short trips to the store or other nearby places then you will need street tires which are made with a deeper groove and tread pattern that gives a better grip on hard surfaces and also holds better on wet surfaces. They can also handle higher speeds that are typical when driving on a paved road.

Finally, if you use your vehicle for driving off the road and on some rough, unpaved surfaces you will want to get off road tires which are specially designed to take a lot of abuse. They can roll over rocks and grab the uneven surfaces firmly with their large grooves and durable tread. If you are going to use your cart for off-road sports or hunting style use then it is very important that you ensure that you fit only tires made for this purpose.

It is important to know exactly what different types of tire are available and just what you want to use your cart for. In general, your cart tires should all match and you should aim to replace them together. Whatever else you do, do not compromise on safety and if you are at all uncertain about what to buy talk to your local golf cart dealer.
