As one of the dominant postal carriers in America and beyond, Federal Express offers logistics services to clients around the world. Federal Express is split in to several different divisions, with the biggest and most visible of these being FedEx Ground. As well as being responsible for tens of thousands of deliveries each day, FedEx Ground is also in charge of the FedEx Office retail outlets (recently re-branded and previously known as FedEx Kinko's). Such a huge operation of course requires a substantial amount of man power to keep things running smoothly and as a result there is a large supply of FedEx jobs available in a variety of different roles ranging from entry level job positions with FedEx Ground up to supervisory and managerial roles.

Let's look a couple of the key employment positions available with FedEx Ground. These can be split in to two broad areas - Driver and Package Handler. As a driver with FedEx your job naturally entails driving a FedEx truck. You will be collecting packages from FedEx supply depots (and sometimes directly from customers) and then delivering the items within a specified time slot. As a driver you are responsible for the truck - driving safely and courteously, and also ensuring that all your assigned packages remain undamaged and are delivered in a timely fashion. Some people think a FedEx driving job is an easy ride but are shocked when they realize quite how much work they have to do. You will have many different deliveries to make each shift, each with it's own time limit, so it can actually be quite stressful keeping on top of things especially if you get delayed in traffic, etc and find yourself running behind schedule. If you are considering applying for a FedEx job as a delivery driver then you will need a clean valid license and good customer service skills.

A FedEx package handler essentially works as a warehouse operative in one of Federal Express's many distribution centers across the country. As a package handler you will receive inbound consignments, unload them and ensure they reach the relevant loading point to go out on delivery. Much of this is computerized. FedEx customers can track their parcels and see where they are at any one time - this is possible because packages are scanned as they arrive and leave each area until they reach their final destination. As a package handler you will be the one scanning items as they arrive and making sure they are logged on the system so they don't get lost. Working as a FedEx package handler offers a competitive wage. This is a 24 hour operation so you may be required to work night shifts and unsociable hours, but the flipside is you are rewarded for this with an increased hourly rate and flexible working hours.

Both these job positions with FedEx also offer good prospects for promotion and career progression if you prove yourself to be a good employee who is dedicated to the job. So be assured that you can find your ideal job and career at Federal Express.
