Starting any positive new venture in life is a step in the right direction. When you ve made the decision to put yourself in the position of success, so many important things must be considered. The technical, financial, and the logistics are the first factors on most peoples list, but there is something that s far more important than those things combined. That s the emotional aspect of your new venture. It may or may not seem important, but this will determine the ultimate success of failure of your project.

One of the most perplexing issues of the human psyche is the fear of success and the fear of failure. These concepts at their base are simply not logical, but they are entirely human. We are not rational beings. Our emotional nature has benefitted us throughout our history. From hunting and gathering to our communal relations, our emotional connection to ourselves and our world has sustained us.

The nasty part about it is that sometimes this fear is entirely irrational. A baby, for example, may climb on a couch and play around. The baby gets too close to the edge and falls off. He hits his little head and has a painful experience. He doesn t associate his pain with gravity or playing too rough. What will he associate his pain with? The couch! So he sits on chairs the rest of his life when a perfectly comfotable couch is there.

This seems like a relatively outrageous concept, but if we were to examine our own lives carefully, we may come to realize that we too have some very illogical thoughts. These thoughts arrive from our negative versus positive associations. This is probably the most critical aspect of the human experience. This will determine what we will and will not perform in our lives.

The most difficult part is learning how to associate the meaningful experiences of our lives with positive associations and our self destructive behavior with negative associations. Life is seldom so simple. The self destructive behavior usually offers the most pleasure and the virtuous behavior, in the short term, takes performing actions that few are willing to perform.

Learning these things, however, will determine your success. Starting a business can be difficult. In the early stages, you can expect plenty of work (negative), Plenty of frustration (negative), for very little pay (negative), among other negatives. This is enough to turn most people off from starting their venture to begin with. This is exactly why most people don t start a new business. But I can assure you that these concerns are just as irrational as blaming the couch for falling!

We can be logical as humans. Our nature is emotional, so thinking logically takes discipline. But each and every one of us who has experienced the benefits of exercising our rationale finds the results incredibly rewarding in the end! Fight your fears! Associate each of your frustrations as small steps toward you goal! Associate the work you have to perform for your new business with exploration, learning new things, and creative thinking!

Positive association shapes out world. The more control you have over your emotional nature, the more you can achieve anything under the sun you set your mind to.
