As the famous saying goes, offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships. The same thing goes when you are speaking of football videogames. Football games are fun and many people want NCAA 11 defense tips. A good dominant defense can cause havoc on the field and disrupt the best motions of even the best offense. The main point of a defense is to get the ball back in the hands of your offensive playmakers so that you can score.

If your unable to stop an offense they will demolish and embarrass you. As in the real game, you will have success if you are able to stop the run. The offensive formation your opponent lines up in says a lot about the play their going to run. Pay attention to where their tight end and full back line up at. The side they are on is usually the direction of the play. Also, if the line of scrimmage is on a hashmark, they may attempt to run the ball towards the open field.

Shift your linemen and linebackers in the direction you think the play is going to go. Of course you are taking a risk, but if you are right, you can make a great play. The running back will not have any room to run and may even lose yards on the play.

If you are up against a more avid player then this will be a little trickier. A more advanced player will simply just use the controls to shift the play to the other side, which may end up confusing you. In these instances, keep your linebackers in place and shift your linemen slightly. Also, stay alert and react to trends.

When you are defending against the pass do not be predictable. It is important to throw as many things at the offense as you can to keep them guessing. If the offense knows what your attempting then you will not last long. Man coverage and zone coverage have their own advantages. Man coverage allows you to rush the quarterback easier, while a zone can force a bad pass.

However, no matter what your scheme is conceal your coverage. The opponent will be basing their decisions off the positioning of your men. There are many different techniques that you can utilize to bluff and beat your opponent. The videogame is really close to real life. Once you get the controls down, you should be okay.

The offense will be on their toes if you do this often. You will increase the chances of an interception being thrown, sacking the quarterback, or both. However, you have to have good timing. If you are late, you will not be able to change your play. Being early will defeat the purpose.

Finally, do not take risks unless you have to. Swatting down a pass may be the better choice over going for the interception. Interceptions are nice, but if it does not work you will give up a big play, or maybe even points. By being smart and conservative the tempo of the game will be yours.
