Walter Sellick began building his own company after a long connection with a Ford Tractor seller. He started by altering and industrial tractor which he had been provided by Ford. As a result, he transformed this industrial tractor into a 6000lb lift truck designed particularly for outdoor use. What is presently known as the turn-around tractor series, came from a basic mast, counterweight and sub-frame design.

As design methods matured, the essential single frame concept was launched across all model lines during nineteen seventy five. State-of-the-art advances in the construction and design of heavy duty forklifts saw the basic Ford Tractor power train be retained as the central utility module for nearly all models. The demand for Sellick straight mast rough-terrain lift trucks became well known by this time. Product sales improved all through the early 1980s with the latest rugged design capacities of 5000lb to 12,000lb and two and four wheel drive models.

A new component built series featuring Perkins, Continental and Ford engine alternatives became available in 1987. See-thru roller masts were launched along with the trendy shift-on-the-go transmissions on the low profile SG and the SD Series. In the latter part of the 1990s, the fully automatic Powershift transmission and the twelve thousand pound SD Series lift truck became accessible.

The company continued to be inventive and during 1995, they introduced the Truck Mounted forklift. The TMF-55 is powered by an option of either a Deutz or Perkins diesel engine and has a five thousand five hundred pound capacity. This machinery capitalizes on the entire delivery system of truck, driver and trailer, hence reducing turn-around time, and enhancing overall efficiency on the job. The TMF-55 quickly and easily loads itself on the back of a trailer or truck, thereby saving valuable cargo room while likewise removing the need to tow a trailer.

By 2002, Sellick Equipment Limited became the only North American distributor of the JCB Teletruck. With its forward reach capacity and unique versatility, this adjustable reach industrial forklift compliments the rest of Sellicks' material handling equipment. During the year 2004, the SG-R Series of new production, low profile lift trucks were introduced. These compact, high-powered forklifts are designed to effectively maneuver in the smallest and tightest places. 2004 brought the introduction of the ergonomically friendly S Series forklift. Sellick proposed a new era of innovative forklift design and manufacturing by placing such a big importance on driver safety and comfort.

Located in Harrow, Ontario; Sellick makes its head office and makes all their equipment in their seventy thousand square foot production facility. Their modern plant is able to invite its clients to meet their committed employees or professionals who manufacture, implement and design the products. Sellick lift trucks are serviced and sold in each and every corner of the North American continent and various parts overseas through a service-oriented, high quality supplier network. Presently, Sellick has over 4000 lift trucks in the field. In addition, they have designed and manufactured attachments and forklifts for well know companies like for instance Kawasaki, John Deere, International Harvester and Kubota.
