Virtually everybody has heard the prominent James Bond expression "Shaken and not stirred", and without doubt probably all of you know that it is referring to Agent 007's best preffered alcoholic beverage -Vodka Martini.

Certain mixed drinks have become best known from movies and novels, stories, books, as well as celebrities or famous people who like them and order them.

Bond's classic Martini Vodka is only one example which became famous from a fictional hero. Made of Vodka and a drop of Vermouth, this cocktail can be garnished with a cocktail olive, lemon, or other. It has been Bond's favorite cocktail for decades, and logically the author of the Bond character, writer Ian Fleming's favorite drink.

Another movie character from what is perceived a cult movie isJeff Lebowski aka The Dude from "The great Lebowski", this unforgettable and comic character clearly shows his taste for one particular cocktail : the White Russian. The White Russian is yet another sugary cocktail with Vodka as a main ingredient, made with coffee liquor and cream. The character acted by Jeff Bridges is so followed, that there is now a Lebowski festival as well as an half serious ideology, by the name of "Dudeism".

The well-known "Casablanca" star, Humphrey Bogart was famous for his saying "that the problem with the rest of the world was that everybody was several drinks behind him". The handsome actor of the 50's preferred Gin Martini's.

Winston Churchill, British PM during the World War II was also fond of drinking. He liked to drink the so-called Highball cocktail,which in his case meant simply Whiskey with water served in a highball glass. Traditionally, the Highball is a cocktail made of Whiskey and Ginger ale with lemon.

The world famous impressionists, Degas, Manet and Piccasso preferred the strong ,reaching up to 70% alcohol content, liquorices liquor named Absinthe. During the 19th and earlt 20th centuries, it was considered a wondrous drug, also known for acting as an aphrodisiac. Today, Absinthe is a component of numerous popular cocktails.
