I brought my Sony PRS several months ago and when compared to the ipad, kindle and nook i prefer it. It has a much sleeker design and much sturdier feel than the kindle and nook ereaders. The Device has a lot of unique features that you only get with the Sony PRS, such as its ability to be both left handed and right handed device. so you can use it simply and easily with either hand on its own.
I did however come into a problem and that was how to download ebooks for my Sony PRS, while there are servcies online like amazon that sell ebooks for $10-$15 a time per ebook but this is not great value in my opinion. So after buying 5 or so ebooks from amazon i was determined to find better ways to get hold of the newsest and best books in digital format for my PRS.
Teh first thing i recommend doing is searching out your favourite authors online and going to their own websites and blog and get the ebooks for the Sony PRS directly from them, this way you know that all your money is going directly to the sutor and not a big company. It is also a great way to get ebooks for the Sony PRS because you often get discounts from things like the ibook store (apple) and Amazon. But also in some cases are able to get hte latest releases early or in a BETA type format from the authors directly.
My next tip is to use a service called Scribd, this is an online publishing centre which anyone can use to publish books and novels directly onto the internet. Every ebook is free on teh site so you are able to get many books for your Sony PRS as i did. I would however advise caution as not all the books on the site are legitamatly put their by the authors and can often be loaded with viruses or spyware, (one occasion i had to do a hard reset of my Sont PRS ereader becasue i downloaded a dodgy ebook). But the site is great and has a lot of research jouranls/papers (white papers) which is great if you enjoy academic reading and research.
My final tip is a service called Buy Ebooks Online, This is a subscription based servce (one off lifetime membership) which allows users access to a massive library of 40,000 ebooks ont he internet which i then download ditrectly on my Sony PRS. The library can be searched by genre so it is easy to get hold of books in particular neiche or type. I love this service because i am able to download all the ebooks i want once i paid my $20 and now am able to load up my Sony PRs with ebooks and it saves me money everytime i do.
