Squats: The main exercise for many athletes

I am sure that you have seen many high school athletes or professional players using the squat exercise to improve their performance. What is so special about doing squats? What is special about squats is the benefits that it gives you when you perform them with the right form. The squats targets the quadriceps, the calves, the hamstrings, and the gluteus maximus. What muscles do you think is used when people try to go for a jump?

All these muscles that I listed all contribute and will help a person jump higher when they workout these muscle groups. If you remember, the squat exercise works out these muscle groups. Not to mention that you also get amazing strength gains when you perform the squat exercise efficiently.

Here are some common mistakes that will keep you from the benefits of squatting to jump higher.

Arching the back is a bad move to do when you are squatting and can damage your back overtime. When you are squatting and if the barbell is resting on your upper back then you are slightly leaning forward and then thus roll their lower back, doing squats like this can lead to back problems overtime.

Keeping your head down while doing squats is also another common mistake that many athletes use when they are performing squats. When you look down, then you are not keeping your back straight and it is important that you keep your back straight.

Bringing your knees in is a very common practice that many people do when they perform the squat exercise. When you do this, you are distributing the weight on your body and this is cheating. When doing the squats, all major muscle groups like the calfs, hamstrings, glutes, and quadriceps need to be worked out hard to ensure that you are getting a good workout.

This is a great exercise as discussed in this article and their really is more something special with squats and its gains that you get from doing them.
