So you have found the wedding venue you've always dreamt of, and are now trying to figure out your decorating scheme - great! Some venues have become fairly neutral in style, which could help to make things easy, but others will have pretty intense colour schemes or decor in place, which can be more difficult to work around. These are generally a few suggestions on decorating to match your wedding venue.

When it comes to decorating a church for your wedding ceremony, the colour scheme shouldn't be a big factor in your selections. If the church has ugly mustard yellow carpet that clashes with the dresses you prefer for the bridesmaids, do not concern yourself with it. They'll be strolling down the church aisle for such a short time, and many of your wedding ceremony images are going to be shot somewhere else anyway. Besides, for all you know, the church may change the colour of the carpet before your wedding. Choose the colours you prefer for the church; no one can fault you for clashing with the existing decorations of your house of worship.

The reception is different, however. That is certainly exactly where your friends and relatives will spend the majority of of their time, and you should create an unified design. You don't have to complement the venue's colours specifically (and in reality that may be overkill), but it's smart to coordinate with what is there. Therefore if the walls of the reception are colored in a cool gray colour, plan a wedding color palette which either complements it (say silver, lavender, and ice blue) or one that intentionally contrasts with it (like bright red). Avoid picking colors that will really clash with the decor already in position.

Design matters also. Assume you have reserved a grand ballroom for your reception. Everything that you select needs to be equally grand. Choose a formal silk gown with beading and ornate custom bridal jewellery, and decorate in sophisticated colours for example silver or burgundy. Tall formal table decorations is the perfect design for the tall ceilings of a grand ballroom, whereas short vases of gerbera daisies could be entirely underwhelming and out of place. By the same token, stay away from very formal bridal attire or grand customized jewelry for a reception in a rustic setting, and be careful about how you blend modern day design with traditional settings, as well as the reverse.

Obviously, if you love almost everything about the reception site with the exception of the color scheme, there are some ways to work around it. Just remember that your decorating expenditures are going to be higher whenever your plan is to significantly alter an area, instead of just trying to enhance the current features. There are lots of ways to make modifications, particularly with lighting and material hanging. You may need to hire a wedding planner if you wish to drastically transform a space.

When you create a wedding design that works nicely with your site, everything will fall into place. The decor will look more pulled together and the whole effect will be more pleasant. It's not necessarily effortless, but it'll be worth the time put in to plan wedding decorations that work well with the style of your wedding reception venue.
