There are various types of gardens that you can grow nowadays. These range from vegetable gardens to herb gardens. With each is a different way of tending and maintaining them. However, there are two main methods of planting produce in your garden.

One way is to till a certain part on flat, somewhat shaded and fertile land. The other way is by putting seeds and potting soil in some form of plant container to grow the desired produce or herbs. Gardens can even be grown in the cold seasons in a green house, so favorite vegetables and spices will never be missed and enjoyed year round! One type of garden that is becoming more popular is the herb garden for various reasons. Save money and add a little zest to dinners!

Herbs can be used for a variety of things; home remedies, additional flavor to food, and as an incense of sorts are just a few of their uses. Typically herbs can be purchased in local grocers and health food stores.

Nowadays, some shops even provide fresh herbs for sale. Try to find those that have not stayed for long after harvesting. In addition, never buy wilted herbs. They have already lost their flavor and are not much use when consumed.

Dry processing is one way to conserve the herb's flavor. It involves drying them in the sun to remove any water content. Drying retains all the flavor and vital ingredients as only the water content is removed. Wilting on the other hand does not involve drying. Rather, the herbs lose their moisture along with their aroma after they are harvested. Having your own garden will enable you process the herbs in the right way and therefore preserving the overall flavor.

Herbs are great when used in food or beverages. Any type of food is great with dried or fresh herbs. For beverages, teas are the most recommended. Rosemary is one type of herb that goes well with either food or drinks.

Growing rosemary indoors or outside provides room for experimenting. It goes well will meat and vegetables. In addition, it adds great flavor to teas. You are free to try it out in any dish or beverage and savor its astounding flavor.

If you grow your rosemary outside, it would be wise to dry some for the cold season when it is not productive. Most of the dried rosemary come as sprigs. They can be quite annoying to chew on. To eliminate this, grind the dry sprigs and use it as seasoning for your pork or chicken.
