Although they are great in theory, reducing your carbohydrate intake drastically will prevent spikes in insulin which can lead to weight loss, in practice, it is a much more complicated issue. Your body and brain prefers to use glucose as a fuel source, which comes from complex and simple carbs. When you are on a low carbohydrate diet, you will severely reduce your concentration and mental capabilities and will make you feel lethargic. Eventually, you can get used to it but your body would be running in a severely catabolic state, using fat and muscle as means of energy, which is just not how your body is supposed to run.
The best way to really make a lasting effect on your weight loss is to implement a complete lifestyle change in regards to your activity levels as well as your nutritional habits.
