The accepted color of wedding dresses was always thought to be white but this is not the case. Although way back in the eighteen hundreds it was Queen Victoria that influenced white wedding dresses as most brides wore gowns of different colors but after Victoria white was set as the color of choice and has remained for ever since.
From early ages it was custom to wear white irrespective of the fabric used as this depicted purity and innocence. The white gown gained popularity although some brides wore gowns that were practical and that could be worn after the wedding whereby a few alterations were made to it.

During the depression in the 1920 s brides to be just made do with their best outfit for the wedding and some would get married in the traditional white and after the wedding would dye the dress another color. Some brides used to borrow or rent a dress for their wedding and if the couple were in the military they would get married in their uniforms. Then after the war in the late nineteen hundreds once again the Victorian fairy tale wedding became a reality.
In today s time wedding dresses are emphasized on the individuality of the bride and again many brides choose a color other than the conventional white gown. And one can choose an off the rack gown or a bespoke designer gown with layers of pure lace with pearls or diamante sewn onto the lace or they can choose something slightly more unconventional.
Besides the planning and everything else that needs to be done for a wedding the most important aspect is the wedding dress. The bride wants to look her very best so she needs to find a dress that will compliment her figure. And no matter what shape the brides body is she will find a dress that makes her look fabulous.
