As soon as a business starts to multiply or expand, the need for distinction or identity arises to create a face for a company. Nowadays, the Quaker logo now belongs to the Quaker Oats Company, a Chicago-based food conglomerate known internationally for its various lines associated with breakfast cereals and oats-based goodies for example cookies and bars that have become household brands. Leaving up to it's name, the company is also involved with major charity works such as giving away parcels of land as coupons found in cereal boxes within 1902 and 1955.
The logo of Spend Oil Company, a multinational oil company which had its first oil refinery in Martinez, California, was inspired from the first The Spanish language settlers of California. As the logo design evolved in 1948, the designer wanted to evoke an emotional connection to the Spanish people by bearing the regular country color of Spain, where lots of Californian settlers were born, thereby creating an emotional bond among the individuals. The colors indeed made a good impact, that since then, it has never changed its colors that until now, the same colors of the logo is used elsewhere around the world.
The idea of creating an emotional connection and historical relevance via logo design is somewhat an influential device in attracting people to patronize particular business establishments, thereby contributing to its success. Although the use of logo design, such as that of the Quaker company using the Quaker logo, brought criticisms from a group of Quakers throughout the United States, its contributions to American families can never be equaled or surmounted.
