Ribs are definitely one of the most popular meats that are cooked using the oven or grilled. Oven cooked ribs ensure that the meat is tender and also retains its moisture in order to offer you with a delicious meal. Grilling of ribs does not make the meat tender and at the same time the meat will lose its moisture and hence deprive it of its natural juiciness. Cooking ribs in an oven does not depend on the type of weather as is the case with grilling ribs. In order to prepare a good ribs meal in an oven you will need to follow several simple steps.

The first step is to purchase the adequate amount of ribs that will satisfy each and everyone who is planning on enjoying the dish. You should keep in mind that ribs have more bones and fats than meat and this means that you should purchase twice or thrice the amount of ordinary meats you normally purchase. Also consider that an adult can consume about a pound of ribs if it is served alone. The next step will be to season the ribs in order to be able to give you a delicious as well as an unique flavor. There are a couple of seasonings that you can use.

One of the most commonly used types of seasoning is the sprinkling of salt, garlic, pepper and meat tenderizer onto the ribs. You can also choose to add your own spices which may include turmeric, rosemary, parsley, oregano, paprika, cheese and any other spice you may choose. Instead of seasoning however you can choose to marinade the ribs using the commercially prepared marinades. To marinade the ribs will assist in meat tenderizing as well as maintain the moisture in the meat. There are various types of marinades that can be used and this will include salad dressings, teriyaki marinade and barbecue marinade among others.

When you are sure the meat is tenderized you can move on to the next step which will be placing the ribs in a baking dish that can either be glass or a baking pan. You should then make sure you have aluminum foil that should be used in covering the pan. The foil is supposed to be large enough so that it is capable of folding back to close the ribs inside the foil. The foil should be excess so as to leave part of it along the edges. The ribs should then be placed in the foil covered pan where you will then have to pour about a quarter inch of water into the pan. This water is supposed to help in maintaining the moisture of the meat and also protect the foil and the pan from getting scorched.

If you wish you can add vegetables at this stage which you can cook along with the ribs. Some of the vegetables that go well with ribs include potatoes, carrots as well as big chunks of onions and these are supposed to surround the ribs. The ribs should now be covered with the remainder of the foil which will appear like creating a tent. You should ensure that the foil does not press onto your meat during cooking. You should then preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and cook the ribs for about sixty minutes. You should the remove the foil and put the ribs back in the oven and this time it should be at 375 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 15 minutes. You now know how to cook ribs.
