The grilling of ribs is the most common method of cooking ribs and using the oven method is not known by many. Knowing how to cook ribs in an oven has several benefits including not being affected by the weather conditions as is the case with using the grill to cook the ribs. You do not need to take care of your ribs when they are cooking on the oven as they stay in the oven for a couple of hours. The ingredients for cooking this do not really matter but only the process of preparing them.

The first step in the preparation of this dish is to brine the ribs due to the drying of the ribs while they are in the oven. The brining of rib should be done by filling a large container with cold water as well as the ribs and it should be able to fit in the refrigerator. You should also add herbs or spices together with ? cup of salt and ? cup of sugar. The container should then be covered and placed on the refrigerator for an hour. You should then dry rub these ribs in order to add flavor to them by allowing the rub to sit on the meat for several hours preferably overnight before cooking them.

The dry rub should consist of ? cup brown sugar as well as herbs and spices such as 2 tablespoons smoked paprika, ? tablespoon fresh cracked black pepper, ? tablespoon cayenne, 2 tablespoons chili powder, 2 tablespoons oregano, 2 tablespoons onion powder, 2 tablespoons garlic and 2 tablespoons salt. After preparing the rub you can now remove the ribs from the brine and dry them with paper towels. You should then place the ribs on foil and rub them on all sides with generous amounts of the rub.

After covering them with the foil they should be placed in the refrigerator for several hours. A little moisture should then be added to the ribs by making a braising liquid while preheating the oven at 250 degrees. Beer, white wine or chicken stock can be used as the braising liquid. You should also add liquid smoke through something sweet which may include orange juice or maple syrup. Some acid should also be added through using any type of vinegar.

While the braising ingredients are boiling you can now place the ribs on the foil. The braising liquid should then be left to cool off and open a corner on each of the foil rib packets in order to pour in the cooled liquid with each getting about ? cup. These ribs should then be placed to cook 2 ? to 4 hours on the oven. You should also use a fork to check the tenderness of the meat after the first 2 ? hours of cooking. Learning how to cook ribs in an oven is quite easy.
