Adjustable width garden rakes are far superior to fixed width rakes because you can make them fit into just about any project that you take on. This saves you money because you will only have to buy one rake instead of several different rakes of varying widths. Gardeners use garden rakes for the smoothing out and leveling of earth in the garden plot. Each gardener should have a hose of her own. Even if you don't have a lot of plants you should have a garden hose handy. You can use your hose for other things-it is not just for watering your plants. Gardeners can also use the garden hose to spray debris and unwanted things out of the garden without having to worry that they might accidentally be damaging their plants. Many people use their garden hoses for lawn watering and car washing as well as garden watering!
For gardeners who grow difficult plants a soil tester is a necessity. Some plants require soil that has a very specific PH balance or nutrient content. You can use your soil tester to figure out if your soil is good enough for the plants you want to grow. Of course, this is a tool that only very serious gardeners usually see a need to invest in. Orchid growers are a great example of people who can benefit from a soil tester because orchids have very specific growing needs. Soil testers are great for crop rotating farmers who need some help in determining which plants should get planted where each year.
Gardening is thought to be a very relaxing activity. There just seems to be something about "playing in the dirt" that people find appealing and that calms their nerves. Lots of people new to gardening will only use their hands . After a while, however, gardening tools become easier to use. Eventually you will feel so comfortable using your gardening tools that they will feel like extensions of your body. The more you work in your garden and use gardening tools the more natural doing so will be. You will wake up one day surprised to find gardening to be very enjoyable!
