A barbecue is what comes to the minds of many people when they hear of ribs and this is with good reason. There are several types of ribs available in the market and this will include beef and pork ribs and they can be tricky to cook meaning that you will need to have a good preparation in order to make the process easier. You are supposed to keep in mind several things when learning how to cook ribs. One of these is knowing your ribs well and here is identifying which type of ribs to cook. The rib style will be included in this and this includes short ribs, St. Louis style as well baby back ribs. All these ribs have different recipes as well as instructions.

The next thing to consider is seasoning the ribs well enough. Rubbing of the ribs is very important with different types of rubs available. The ribs should also be coated with thin layers of mustard as well as sprinkling with seasoning. The next thing will be to refrigerate the seasoned ribs by up to 48 hours while they are well wrapped. The ribs should be cooked at a "low and slow" method which can be achieved by using one of two methods. One of these methods is through using a crockpot or a slow cooker by cooking on low heat for 10 hours with the ribs in the size of serving pieces.

The other way is to cook ribs in an oven by arranging them in a large roasting pan and covering them tightly with foil and baked for 6 to 8 hours at 225 degrees. When grilling ribs you are supposed to pre-cook them in order for them to be tender. You should also add sauce on the grill for the last few minutes so that it doesn't burn. You should first cook the ribs at low heat for eight hours and this will require a lot of attention as well as care and you should be confident of your grilling skills.

When using grills you should not use a sweet or honey mustard in the rub step and this is because they burn long before the meat is tender. When using both the grill and oven methods you should make a "mop" in order to baste the ribs for every 30 minutes so as to keep them moist. The basic mop is made by combining 4 cups of apple cider vinegar. This mixture should be used for basting for every half an hour. You should start the cooking up to a day in advance if you are cooking for many people and make sure the ribs will be refrigerated and this will give you time to cook a couple of batches if needed.

The ribs should be ready for the final grill cooking when they have cooked to melting tenderness. The grill should then be heated at medium heat and the ribs evenly distributed for cooking for about 5 minutes on each side. The ribs should then be rubbed with your favorite barbecue sauce in each of the sides for another 5 minutes and this is to caramelize the sugars that are in the sauce which may cause unpleasant burns to your fingers as well as tongue.
